LATEST NEWS: 10-Year Visa for MM2H ( Malaysia My Second Home )
Foreigners retiring or living in Malaysia under the Malaysia My Second Home program will now get a 10-year social visit pass with a multiple-entry visa, instead of 5 years. This comes into force immediately for new applicants. A one-stop centre will be set up at the Tourism Ministry to help those starting a new life here. The centre will centralise all information related to the MMSH program which so far, has been handled separately by various ministries. The MMSH program was formerly known as the Silver Hair program. The name was changed in 2002.

 


Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H)  is a program introduced by the Malaysian government to allow people from all over the world to live and retire in Malaysia. This program welcomes foreign citizens to enter and stay in Malaysia as long as possible. Under this program you will receive a Social Visit Pass and Multiple Entry Visa from the Malaysia Department of Immigration. Both documents are valid for 5-years (renewable) and allow you the freedom to enter and leave Malaysia whenever you wish. In fact, you may bring along your spouse, dependents and even one maid.

WHO ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR MM2H?

The Malaysia My 2nd Home Program is open to all citizens of countries regardless of race, religion, gender or age. The applicant must prove a minimum fixed deposit of RM150,000 with any Malaysian financial institution AND have a monthly offshore income equivalent to at least RM7,000 if single or RM10,000 if with spouse.

But if applicant is above 50 years old, he has only to prove either a fixed deposit of the same amount OR a monthly income as stated. More details on Malaysia my 2nd home here.

The following changes to the terms and condition have been introduced effective January 1st 2006.


1) The only financial criteria the applicants have to meet is to place US$75,000 or the equivalent amount in Ringgit in a Malaysian Bank (in Malaysia). This amount needs to be left there for one year. Proof of income is no longer required. This amount can be withdrawn after a period of one year.

2) The MM2H visa will now be valid for a ten year period and renewable as long as the participants abide by the laws of the country.

3) There is no longer a need to submit a medical report or have a Malaysian sponsor.

4) Applicants can apply for a mortgage from a Malaysian bank. The previous limitation of a maximum loan of 60% no longer apply.
